Poolean vs DigiQuatics
Two tools for people who run pools with staff on deck. What each lists on its public pages, and where they differ.
DigiQuatics lists a wide set of modules for a pool or aquatics department: scheduling, a time clock, chemical records, certification tracking, lessons and more. Poolean is narrower. It is for operators who run commercial pools, and it keeps water tests with photos, closures, site visits, maintenance and staffing on one record for each pool, which supervisors and regional managers review. If you also run swim lessons or need certification and in-service tracking in the same tool, DigiQuatics lists those and Poolean's feature pages do not.
What does DigiQuatics do well?
DigiQuatics is built for aquatics operations. Its pages list these customers: cities, parks and recreation districts, YMCAs and YWCAs, pool management companies, private clubs, schools, universities, and Boys and Girls Clubs. You can use only the modules you need. Its modules page lists:
- Staff scheduling and time clock. Time-off requests, availability, shift trades, rounding of clock-in times, and an export for payroll.
- Chemical records. Its chemical records page describes custom ranges per pool, email and text alerts when a level is out of range, balancing suggestions from your pool volume, custom fields, exports, and an audit log of who submitted a record and any later edits.
- Certifications and in-service training. Expiry dates, uploaded certificate cards, reminder emails, and in-service sessions with skills tracking.
- Forms and checklists. Custom forms with signatures, daily checklists, shift reports with attached photos, feature inspections and maintenance issues.
- Lessons and members. Group lessons, lesson requests and report cards, which a pure operations tool does not cover.
Its pricing page says seasonal facilities pay only for the months they use it, with no setup fees and no binding contract. Its FAQ describes a 30-day free trial, a native iPhone and Android app, and exports in mostly Excel and PDF.
Who is DigiQuatics a fit for?
A parks department, a Y, a school district or a club that wants staff schedules, the time clock, certifications, chemical logs and lessons in one tool. If lessons and certification tracking are a big part of your week, that is a real reason to pick it.
Where does Poolean differ?
Poolean is for operators with lifeguards on deck and several pools to watch. These are the differences we can point to on the public pages:
- A photo with each water test. A lifeguard enters free chlorine and pH and takes a photo of the test tube next to the color slide. A supervisor opens a flagged reading beside the original record. DigiQuatics lists alerts and an audit log; we did not see photos attached to a water test.
- Closures. Poolean records a closure with a reason and a time, and tracks the reopening steps your team has recorded. We did not see closure records on the DigiQuatics pages.
- Supervisor visits and many sites. Site visits and guard photos sit on each pool's record. A regional manager's desktop view has a Needs Attention list with badges such as Closed, Chem alert and Understaffed, and a Supervisor Overview with an Assign task button for each supervisor.
- Owners and boards. Property managers and boards get a read-only view of the pools they own, with today's status, logs and closures.
- No signal. Equipment details, checklists and history for your assigned pools are saved on the phone. Notes, readings and photos entered without a signal upload when the connection returns. The DigiQuatics pages we read did not mention working offline.
- Inspection prep. Poolean builds daily or monthly logs you can print, save as a PDF, or download as a CSV, and flags sites that need attention before a health inspection, with reasons. Poolean does not guarantee a passed inspection; your staff still do the work the code requires.
Poolean's feature pages do not list lessons, member management, certification tracking or file storage. Our staffing tools cover shifts, clock-ins, call-outs and coverage requests with approvals.
DigiQuatics and Poolean side by side
In the tables, “Not seen” means we did not see it on the pages linked under Sources. It does not mean the product lacks it, so ask the vendor to show you.

How should you decide?
Ask both vendors to run the same four steps with a sample pool: a staff member enters a water test, a manager finds and reviews it, a follow-up task gets assigned, and you export the record. Our demo checklist has the full list. If lessons and certifications decide it for you, DigiQuatics is built for that. If the hard part of your week is seeing what happened at many pools, book a call and we will show you Poolean on a sample pool.
Questions people ask
Is Poolean an alternative to DigiQuatics?
For water tests, staffing, maintenance and manager review, yes. Poolean's feature pages do not list lessons, member management or certification tracking, so if you use those in DigiQuatics you would need another way to cover them.
Does DigiQuatics work without a signal?
We did not see offline use on the DigiQuatics pages we read. Ask them to show it with the connection off. Poolean saves equipment details and checklists on the phone, and uploads notes, readings and photos when the connection returns.
Can I move my records to Poolean?
Send us an export from your current system. We review it with you, help import your pool, equipment, and maintenance records, and confirm what can be transferred before you switch.
How does Poolean pricing work?
Pricing depends on how many pools you run. We give you a quote on a 30-minute call.
